CLARKSVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Troopers say a man was hit and killed when he got out of his car to ask for help after getting lost on eastbound Interstate 24 in Clarksville.

Tyler Carl Wilsdorf, 23, of Dadeville, AL, tried to make a U-turn near mile marker 4 when he got stuck in the median around 11:45 p.m. Sunday, according to the THP report.

Troopers say they don't think Wilsdorf knew he was walking out onto the interstate when he tried to flag down help and was hit by a car that was heading east.

The driver of the vehicle is not facing criminal charges.
