Clarksville police: Student planned to shoot others
CLARKSVILLE, TN (WSMV) -
A high school student who wrote out detailed plans to shoot other students has been detained, police said Friday.
Investigators said the Kenwood High School student had access to guns and ammunition, and outlined his plans in a note.
An anonymous caller first alerted police to the situation Thursday night, Clarksville Officer Natalie Hall said in an email.
The caller told police the student planned to bring a gun to school to injure students.
Officers contacted that student and his father, and say the student admitted to making the plans and showed his note to officers.
The student was detained and the threat has been "neutralized," Hall said.
Schools parents were informed in an email that went out Friday morning.
"The student will be dealt with according to school board policy," the message said. "We are committed to the safety of our students daily and appreciate the school community's support in matters like this."
Clarksville police are also sending extra patrol officers to increase security at Kenwood High, Hall said.
