Metro police say, an argument between a man and his grandfather resulted in gunfire early Sunday morning at their home on Lynwood Avenue.

Thomas Lamont Johnson, 33, is in critical condition at a local hospital after being shot in the stomach. According to the police investigation, Johnson and his grandfather, Thomas Jefferson Teague, 83, were arguing over Johnson crashing a vehicle that was purchased for him by his grandparents.

Police say Johnson left the home for a short time, and when he returned, Teague was armed and allegedly fired two shots, one of which struck Johnson.

According to police reports, Teague is charged with attempted criminal homicide and unlawful gun possession.

He is being held in lieu of $800,000 bond pending a hearing later in the week.

Police also say that, Johnson is a convicted felon with a lengthy arrest history.

He is presently on probation for aggravated assault.

Police say Johnson allegedly threatened acquaintances with a shotgun during the night leading to Sunday morning's issuance of three aggravated assault arrest warrants, which remain outstanding.
