The Wilson County School Board held a special meeting with the county attorney on Sunday afternoon to review the latest reports of potential policy violations by Director of Schools Dr. Tim Setterlund. In the meeting, board members conducted a fact-finding review, going over school board policies and state laws to see if any violations were made. So far, the board has not come to a decision. Setterlund admitted to consuming an alcoholic beverage and driving his county-issued car.

The issue came to light Thursday night when a county commissioner questioned Setterlund in a public meeting about the allegations. Setterlund admitted to them, saying it was a snow day when the incident happened. He also says his contract allows him to use the car for personal use.

Some county commissioners have called for Setterlund to resign. After the meeting, County Attorney Mike Jennings said, "No action was discussed about which options to take, if any. None will be discussed except in an open meeting. Board members were hit with a lot of information," he added.

Setterlund has been out of town since Friday on a pre-planned vacation. He told Channel 4 on the phone Friday, "I think in retrospect, it was a stupid thing for me to do because it is a county vehicle, and it does have government plates on it. Even though it's provided for my own personal use as if it were my own vehicle." Setterlund went on to say, "I should have done better. I feel bad that I brought criticism to the school system."

The board says they will give advance notice if a public meeting is scheduled.
