Richmond Hill High School on lockdown

Posted: Updated:

Richmond Hill High School is on lockdown - the school has confirmed with WTOC.

Richmond Hill police received a phone call from someone who said that a student had a weapon. That student did not have a weapon. Police Chief Billy Reynolds said that is not the reason for the lockdown.

Another call came in a couple of minutes later. The caller said there was a bomb threat. A lockdown was implemented, which means no one can enter or exit the school. Police are blocking the entrance and exit. The entire school was searched classroom by classroom and nothing has been found so far. Police said they do not believe there is a bomb in the school.

They are not evacuating the school at this time. More than 2,000 students attend the school. They do not want parents to go to the school to pick students. They believe the investigation may take the majority of the day. K-9, firefighters and Richmond Hill police responded.
