The son of Tennessee State's athletics director has been arrested on charges of attempted aggravated burglary.

According to the arrest warrant, Micah Phillips, son of TSU Athletic Director Teresa Lawrence-Phillips, is accused of trying to burglarize a home with a friend and at least one teenager.

The arrest records state Micah Phillips planned to break into the home of a woman he had been working for.

Phillips, 18-year-old Robert Kelley and a juvenile were arrested Sunday morning on charges of attempted burglary and evading arrest.

Police say the trio tried to break into the home through a window but didn't realize the victims were home and had called police.

They allegedly ran when officers showed up but were later arrested.

Police say Kelley told officers while he was being handcuffed that Micah Phillips knew there was a safe inside the house from doing work there and that his employers would be out of town. He also alleged that two teens helped in the crime.

Teresa Lawrence-Phillips released the following statement Thursday night: "My family is devastated over the alleged incident involving my son and asks for your prayers as we go through this trying time," said Lawrence-Phillips in a statement released by the university. "As a parent, I ask that you respect our privacy."
