FORT CAMPBELL, KY (WSMV-AP) -

A Fort Campbell special operations aviation soldier who died this week during a training exercise in Georgia has been identified.

Capt. Clayton O. Carpenter, 31, a native of Brooklyn, NY, was killed and two others were injured when a MH-60 Blackhawk made a "hard landing" near Hunter Army Air Field, GA.

The two who were injured were taken to the hospital.

The Night Stalkers are an elite unit trained to fly helicopters behind enemy lines under the cover of darkness.

An investigation into the incident is underway.
