Middle Tennessee viewers will be able to get their weekend mornings off to an earlier and better start beginning Jan. 25.
WSMV-TV will expand "Channel 4 News Today" to three hours each Saturday and Sunday. The show will begin at 5 a.m. on weekends.
"Channel 4 News Today" will air from 5-7 a.m. with a third hour following the Weekend TODAY show from NBC.
"Middle Tennessee is a busy, vibrant place – especially on the weekends," said WSMV-TV Vice President/General Manager Doreen Wade. "We're thrilled to be on air earlier than any other station so viewers can get their weekends off to a great start."
Channel 4 News will also expand its coverage of community events and live news.
"It's the same great team of news anchor Alan Frio and meteorologist Nancy Van Camp," said Matthew Hilk, Director of News and Creative Services. "We're excited to provide more of what viewers told us they want on weekend mornings, breaking news from overnight, 4WARN Weather and ideas to help plan the weekend."
