WINTER HAVEN, FL (WFLA) -

Polk County Sheriff's deputies arrested a Winter Haven man in connection with two shoplifting incidents at Home Depot stores. It was the 27th time that Richard McIntosh, 56, has been arrested, according to the sheriff's office.

Investigators say on Dec. 6, McIntosh stole $320 worth of wire from the Lakeland Home Depot and on Jan. 5, he stole $180 worth of screws from the Winter Haven Home Depot.

After he was arrested, McIntosh allegedly told detectives that he steals two-to-three times per week from Home Depot stores netting $600 to $700 worth of merchandise per day. He then sells or exchanges the stolen merchandise to support his crack cocaine habit, according to detectives. McIntosh claims he has been doing this for the last 25 years.

"Richard McIntosh is the poster child for why our agency formed an organized retail crime unit, partnering with retailers countywide to combat the theft of their merchandise," said Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd.
