Friends and family of a skateboarder who was critically injured in a hit-and-run accident have been by his bedside for almost two weeks.

Dustin Kalkbrenner, 24, was unconscious when medics arrived at University Drive and Ash Avenue in Tempe on Dec. 27.

Kalkbrenner's family hopes by them speaking out, those responsible will come forward.

The suspect's vehicle is a silver Nissan Xterra last seen that night heading south towards Farmer and University. Police said there was a passenger in the vehicle.

"I need help, we need help to find the driver of this vehicle," said the man's aunt, Christine Simon-Blackmore.

She wants people to know her nephew was someone who mattered to her and her family.

"He's my nephew, he's a brother, he's a cousin, he's so many things to so many people," Simon-Blackmore said.

That's why she has no idea why or how someone could hit him while he was skateboarding, and leave him for dead in the street.

"He doesn't deserve this and I don't know where this road is going to take him next now, and I'm just begging for your help with the police to find this driver," she said.

After the accident back on Dec. 27 police released this video of who they felt was responsible. The accident happened near University and Ash in broad daylight, and Inside the car were two people.

Tempe police Sgt. Mike Pooley said officers still have no information on who was driving that vehicle.

Not one single lead has been obtained to get police closer to making an arrest.

"Right now we're asking for more assistance from the public in identifying who was driving this vehicle," Pooley said.

As for the man's family, the past two weeks have been difficult.

They hope their plea and a little faith will get them the results they're seeking.
