MESA, AZ (CBS5) -

Mesa police said a man punched the elderly woman as he was burglarizing her home early Wednesday morning.

The man crawled through a back window of the home in the area of Gilbert and Broadway roads about 2:30 a.m. and rummaged through the master bedroom dresser while the victim was sleeping, police said.

The 92-year-old victim was awakened by the suspect's flashlight, and the suspect punched the elderly person in the face and fled.

The suspect made off with a dresser drawer and numerous items, including jewelry, police said.
