The driver of a car heading the wrong way on Eagle Way Bypass Monday night has been charged with murder, authorities said Tuesday.

Jessica Nicole Tucker, 33, was arrested after police said she drove westbound in the eastbound lanes of Eagle Way Bypass and struck two other cars head-on.

Tucker's passenger, Brandon Toliver, 28, of Hopkinsville, KY, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to authorities, Tucker was driving between 50 and 55 mph in the wrong lanes of the four-lane road. Tucker first struck a car in the left westbound lane driven by Brandi Cordero, then struck a car in the right westbound lane driven by Cameron Allen.

Tucker, Cordero and Allen, all of Hopkinsville, KY, were transported to a local hospital. Tucker was arrested after treatment.

In addition to the murder charge, Tucker was also charged with two counts of first degree assault and DUI (first offense).

Police said Tucker had a strong smell of alcohol and told officers she had about two mixed drinks.

She later told police she had two margaritas at a restaurant and was driving home in the correct lane when the accident occurred.
