Oregon actor gets big break in Anchorman 2: He's Ron Burgundy's son

BEAVERTON, OR (KPTV) -

In a movie franchise known for its one-liners, Judah Nelson says he's got his fair share of quotable quotes in Anchorman 2.

"You get to do stuff you don't get to do in life, like work with a mechanical shark," the 7-year-old Nelson said from his sister's Beaverton living room.

In a family of actors - five of Nelson's twelve other siblings also act - this is their biggest movie yet. For Nelson, getting the role as Ron Burgundy's son in the much-anticipated sequel was a surprise.

"I didn't even know what (Anchorman) was or who Will Ferrell was," Nelson said.

That's not surprising, after all, Nelson was only six when he was cast and the movies are rated PG-13. Even at the New York premier, Nelson says his mom told him to cover his eyes during certain parts of the movie.

Even still, Nelson said he had fun walking the red carpet with fellow stars like Christina Applegate and Paul Rudd.

"It was really crazy because everyone was shouting my name, and I had no idea where to go," Nelson said.

Like all child actors, Nelson had a tutor during the three months he was on set. He also had a birthday while filming the movie in Atlanta.

"They had a giant cake and Christina Applegate got me a remote control helicopter and I had a lot of fun flying it," Nelson said.

Even at seven, Judah knows that is kind of a big deal. He's already looking to audition for his next big movie.

"I would like to try drama next."

Nelson will head back to Los Angeles after spending some time home for the holidays.
