Posted: Updated:

A Columbia police officer is recovering after she was attacked in her home.

Officer Leslie Boyette was attacked inside her home late Sunday night.

She told Maury County sheriff's investigators that she arrived home from work around 10 p.m., changed out of her police uniform and heard her dog barking.

According to the report, Boyette confronted a man. They struggled and knocked over furniture and other items.

The Daily Herald, a news partner of Channel 4 News, reported that Boyette was able to free herself to run to a neighbor's house and call 911.

Boyette suffered bruises and injuries from where she was choked, but she did not require treatment at the hospital.
