NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

The search is on for a gunman who held up two people outside of a club and opened fire.

The shooting happened outside the Purple Heys nightclub at 1401 4th Avenue South in Nashville Sunday night.

The men told police they were leaving the club around 11 p.m. when a man in a dark hoodie ambushed them and robbed them.

At some point there was a struggle, which is when one of the men was shot in the leg.

The man was able to get back into the club and call police.

He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. There is no word on his condition at this time.

The victims say the suspect was wearing a dark mask, a dark-colored hoodie, dark-colored pants and tennis shoes and was armed with a small semi-automatic handgun.

Investigators are hoping someone in the area saw what happened and will call police.
