Last month, country music singer Wayne Mills was shot and killed during an argument at the Pit and Barrel.
Chris Ferrell, owner of the bar, has been charged with second-degree murder in the case. Ferrell is claiming self-defense in the shooting.
Wayne Mills' widow, Carol Mills, spoke for the first time Saturday about the legacy her husband leaves behind.
"The outpouring of love, prayers and support from everyone in Nashville and our little city of Nolensville have been beyond comprehension," said Carol Mills. "Sometimes I don't even feel like I knew who I was married to."
Carol Mills said her husband was a man always true to himself. Raised singing with his family in the kitchen, Carol Mills said he had a deep connection to the country music of Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson, and he was carrying on their great tradition every time he picked up a guitar.
"He wasn't doing this to be famous," she explained. "He was doing this because he loved the music."
Whether touring with the Wayne Mills Band or being a father to his 7-year-old son Jack, Carol Mills said everything her husband did was aimed at helping people.
"That's why there's been this amazing outpouring of support for me and my son Jack, it was because Wayne was such a good friend to people," said Carol Mills.
Since his death, concerts and fundraisers have been held in Wayne Mills' honor.
Carol Mills said there's nothing more fitting for a man who lived to help people than his being an organ donor. With his passing, his wife said Wayne Mills' organs have gone to five people.
"This was a way, and what an amazing way, there was nothing that could be done for him, that he could do something for somebody else," she said. "Out of something so tragic, five lives were saved by one person."
