Putnam Co. homeowner finds burglars in front yard

PUTNAM COUNTY, TN (WSMV) -

A Putnam County man came home to find burglars in his front yard, and what he did next may have helped them get away.

The homeowner got home and may not have realized the men in his front yard were criminals because the first thing he did was move his car, which is when the burglars got out of the driveway and sped away.

When the homeowner parked, he found his doors open and discovered his TV, PlayStation and laptop were gone.

The Herald-Citizen says the homeowner had left the front door of the house open because he was gone for a short time.

Police were called to the scene on Emerald Road on Sunday but couldn't find the burglars.

The homeowner tried jotting down the license plate number of the silver Honda Civic the crooks were in as they got away, but they left too fast.
