Walker Valley escapes Baylor with a win

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) -- Austin Harwood hit two free throws with 20 seconds to play to lift visiting Walker Valley to a 49-48 win over Baylor Wednesday night.

The Red Raiders (1-2) had the last chance in a game that went back-and-forth all night, but Matt Clendenen's final attempt was off the mark as time expired.

Lukas Korn led the Mustangs with 16 points, scoring eight in each half, while Baylor's Matt Clendenen led all scorers with 20.

Walker Valley opened on fire on the road at Baylor Wednesday night, but their flame quickly fizzled out.

And the Mustangs were never able to find it again.

The Red Raiders erased an early eight-point deficit and pulled away down the stretch to post a 48-34 non-district win.

Walker Valley scored 16 points in the first quarter and was threatening to pull away, but mustered just 18 points total the rest of the way. Despite scoring just five points in the second period, the Mustangs still owned a 21-18 lead at the break, but the couldn't hold it in the second half.

Kaleigh Clemons led Baylor with 13 points and Abby Hubert chipped in 10.

Jaclyn Griffith led Walker Valley with 12 points.
