Drivers face icy roads early Sunday

Icy road conditions caused two wrecks, one fatal, Sunday morning.

The first wreck occurred around midnight near Edwin Warner Park.

A driver crashed into a utility pole along Vaughn Road.

Crews believe the driver lost control while crossing a bridge over the Harpeth River.

The driver's injuries were not serious.


 Another driver was killed in second wreck in the Metro Center area.

That accident happened around 3 am Sunday morning.

A driver crashed while crossing an icy bridge on 3rd Avenue North. 

The driver died at the scene.


The Tennessee Highway Patrol has reported several wrecks on I-24 near Clarksville overnight. Officers are checking roads for stranded drivers.

Kentucky State Police are reporting slick road conditions across District 2, which includes Christian and Todd counties.


County conditions as of 6 am Sunday morning:

Benton County – Trees down. Power outages reported. No shutdowns. Icy bridge and overpass conditions. Main roads are clear of ice.

Cheatham County – No serious traffic accidents. Reports of several trees and power lines down. Icy bridge and overpass conditions.

Dickson County – Reports of several trees down and power outages throughout the county. Icy bridge conditions.

Henry County – Several wrecks have been reported. Slick road conditions throughout the county.

Hickman County - Several trees down.

Houston County – No incidents reported.

Humphreys County – Several trees down.  No serious wrecks have been reported.  Power outages reported in McEwen.

Montgomery County – Several trees down. Power outages reported in Sango area. Icy bridge conditions.

Robertson County – Trees and power lines down. No serious accidents reported.  Wet road conditions.

Stewart Country – One non-injury wreck due to slick roads near a bridge has been reported.  Paris Landing Bridge has been shut down to remove a vehicle. Trees and power lines down. Slippery road conditions. Icy bridge conditions.

Sumner County – Trees and power lines down.

Williamson County - No reports of ice.

Christian County (KY) – Few accidents have been reported. Icy road conditions.

Logan County (KY) – Slick road conditions.

Todd County (KY) – Icy road conditions. Officials urge drivers to slow down

Trigg County (KY) – No accidents reported.  Slick road conditions.
