NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

The Nashville Predators were delayed on their trip out of town Friday afternoon because the team's plane struck a bird soon after takeoff.

The team was aboard a chartered Delta aircraft when the bird-strike caused the plane to turn around and land at Nashville International Airport about 1:40 p.m.

Predators player Rich Clune tweeted: "Our plane got hungry kids and it ate a hawk now the hawk is in birdie heaven our flight is delayed."

No one was hurt, and by 6 p.m. the team was be able to continue to Washington, where the Predators are scheduled to play the Capitals on Saturday.
