CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Cape Girardeau police arrested a man accused of vandalizing a Cape Girardeau ATM.

Officer Darin Hickey says after a caller identified the man after a report aired on Heartland News.

Police arrested the suspect around 10 a.m. Monday.

Surveillance stills show the man trying to pry open the ATM at U.S. Bank at 3060 William Street last Thursday.

Police say the suspect was not able to get the ATM open but did cause extensive damage to the machine.

Hickey says they released the man pending the filing of formal charges.
