Update on Best Buy Citibank credit card customers calling local business owner

Posted: Updated:
CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

Local business owner Michael Moore says, he's not sure if the ads he purchased on Google are the reason behind the hundreds of phone calls he received each day or if Citibank printed the wrong toll free number on their new Best Buy cards.

According to a picture sent by a Citibank spokesperson, the number on the back of the card begins with a toll-free 888 number.

If someone dialed that same number but started with 866 it would roll over to Michael Moore's transportation company.

After Moore and his attorney complained, that 866 number was cut off and the forwarded calls stopped.

Michael isn't fully convinced.  He said, "Citibank is not accepting any responsibility. It's a war of he said, she said and everyone is pointing the finger.  I think they had it turned off after they found out I wanted to tell the story."
