CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) -- The celebration continues in Chattanooga after an historic win for the Mocs.
Linebacker Nakevion Leslie and kicker Nick Pollard both received awards for their roles in Saturday's 20-10 win over Wofford, which earned UTC at least a share of the Southern Conference title for the first time since 1984.
Chattanooga (8-2, 6-1 in SoCon) also moved up five spots to No. 18 in this week's FCS Coaches' Poll and seven spots to No. 17 in The Sports Network Top 25 after its sixth straight win.
Leslie was named the SoCon Freshman of the Week on Monday after recording a game-high and career-high 14 tackles. With three of UTC's top five linebackers sidelined by injury, Leslie stepped up with his first career sack while more than doubling his total for tackles this season.
Pollard booted a 78-yard punt against the Terriers en route to SoCon Special Teams Player of the Week honors. The junior kicker/punter was also named the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) National Punter of the Week after setting the UTC single-game record with a 54.7 yards-per-punt average on three kicks.
Pollard was also 2-for-3 on field goal attempts, connecting from 29 and 42 yards while missing from 45.
