HIXSON, TN (WRCB) -- Hixson running back Isaiah Robinson's historic day led to a historical win for the Wildcats who beat East Ridge in the first round of the 4A playoffs 19-0.

Robinson was named WRCB Player of the Game after a career best 36 carries, 202-yards with two touchdowns.

"I'm happy for the whole team, it's not about me it's not about none of us, it's about the team. Offensive line. Defense shutout. Everybody did their job tonight," said Robinson.

Hixson turned the ball over twice before finding the end zone. The defense responded by picking of two Jo Jo Tillery passes in the first half.

Hixson Head Coach Jason Fitzgerald said, "we're a ground and pound team you're not gonna blow anyone out, you gotta play good defense. If we get a goose egg in the playoffs that's what it's all about."

The first interception came from Jordan Johnson. Which led to the first score of the game. A designed quarterback sneak on the goal line from Gill Brown.

The second interception came from Kedrick Bradley which sent the Wildcats to the half up 6-0.

While the Wildcats continued to hold the Pioneers off the scoreboard in the second half it was Robinson and the offensive line that stole the show.

Robinson found the end zone twice, once in the third quarter to make it 12-0 and once late in the fourth quarter.

Hixson beat East Ridge on Oct. 4th 19-14, "they had said they liked their playoff draw because they wanted to play us again, even though we had already beat them once. We took that as disrespect, so we wanted to come out and prove ourselves again," said Robinson.

Fitzgerald said, "we talked all week about respect we had won one time and they were happy to come back over here so we made sure there was no doubt this time."

The 19-0 win marks Hixson's second post season win to date and first since 1998.

"Thing about the playoffs, it doesn't matter what you win by, it's just win baby and that's what we did," said Fitzgerald. "I'm proud of them, we needed to get over that hump. There's only 16 teams left in Tennessee. We're playing next Friday and we have a chance, that's all we're looking for.

Hixson (8-3) will host Sequoyah (9-2) on Friday Nov. 16th.

The winner of that game will player either Signal Mountain or Knox Catholic.
