TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A Toledo Police officer was arrested for domestic violence Tuesday evening.

According to a police report, Officer Jeremy Berndt, a 10 year veteran of the force, grabbed a woman by the arms and threw her against a wall and repeatedly shoved her into a kitchen counter.

Toledo Police Sergeant Joe Heffernan says Berndt has turned in his gun and badge and been relieved of duty with pay pending internal and criminal investigations.

Berndt was released from jail on his own recognizance following the arrest.
