Officials at the Revelation Funeral Home say they're doing all they can to support Christopher Ellison's family.
"It was a shock to all of us," said Rev. Adric Lane, the owner and grief counselor of Revelation Funeral Home. "I was there with the mother and grandmother."
They say they've worked with the Ellison family before, but after Thursday's tragic accident, they knew they'd need additional support.
"They're taking it hard, and they haven't been through this before," said funeral director Henry Smith.
"The biggest thing that they look for from the community would just be support and prayers," said funeral home manager Edward Hatch.
Coupled with prayer, the family could use financial backing. The funeral home says community donations would make this difficult time less stressful.
"There's always going to be needs that the family didn't prepare for," Hatch said. "So whatever the community can do will be greatly appreciated by the family."
Revelation grief counselors have been meeting with Christopher's mother and grandmother. They're also reaching out to Napier Elementary, where Christopher was a new student. There will be grief counselors at the school Monday as metro students head back to class for the first time since Halloween.
"After this is all over, they'll still need support, prayerfully in the healing process," Lane said. "We're going to be there to give them all the support that we possibly can, with the help of our father God."
There will be a public viewing Tuesday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Revelation Funeral Home at 2203 Buchanan St., Nashville. The funeral will be Wednesday at noon at the Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church at 2448 Herman St., Nashville.
