MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WRCB) -- Scoring opportunities were few and far between in Friday afternoon's Class A/AA state semifinal between Notre Dame and Knoxville Catholic.
Unfortunately for Notre Dame, the luck was on the other Irish's side.
Camile Marcini scored in the 71st minute for the lone goal of the match to lift Knoxville Catholic to a 1-0 win over Notre Dame. The Irish end the season with a 13-7-4 overall mark, while the Fighting Irish of Knoxville Catholic advance to face either CPA or CAK in Saturday's state final.
The two teams combined for just five shots on goal, with Notre Dame credited with three of them.
Notre Dame was the last remaining local team alive for a state championship in Murfreesboro after Chattanooga Christian lost in Wednesday's state quarterfinals.
Friday's state semifinal contest was originally scheduled to be played Thursday, but was postponed because of inclement weather.
