Many Halloween candy favorites made here in Tennessee

Posted: Updated:

When the kids come back from trick-or-treating, there's a good chance they'll have candy that was made right here in Tennessee.

It turns out the Volunteer State also has quite a sweet tooth, and the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development says the sector is still growing.

Since January 2011, candy makers have added 250 new jobs and invested nearly $128 million in the state.

And they include some household names.

In Chattanooga, companies churn out Altoids, Life Savers, Brach's Gummi Bears and those famous MoonPies.

Mars makes M&Ms, Twix and 3 Musketeers in Cleveland, TN.

They make Tootsie Pops out in Covington, and in Memphis, Hershey makes brands of bubble gum, Breathsavers mints and licorice.

And, of course, the famous Goo Goo Clusters are still made right here in Nashville.
