Schools dismissing early due to threat of severe weather

Posted: Updated:
NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Several school systems will be dismissing students early or changing after-school plans on Thursday due to the threat of severe weather.

  • Stewart County Schools will be dismissing students two hours early.
  • Humphreys County Schools will be closing at 2 p.m.
  • Houston County Schools will be closing at 12:45 p.m.
  • Todd County Schools will be dismissing students one hour early.
  • Robertson County Schools are getting out three hours early, but that dismissal was already planned and does not have to do with the weather.
  • Metro Nashville Public Schools announced that all after school activities requiring Metro Schools' bus transportation have been canceled. Because individual schools may have events planned and athletic practices, principal discretion is advised regarding these decisions.

The possibility of severe storms during the late afternoon and evening on Thursday has also prompted some area communities and individual neighborhoods to reschedule their Halloween festivities. See the latest by clicking here.
