Trick-or-treat plans dampered by strong winds, rain

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Many area communities and individual neighborhoods rescheduled their Halloween festivities as rain and strong gusts of wind pushed through the region.

Take a look at the list of postponed and rescheduled Halloween events that have been reported to our newsroom:

Friday events:

  • Clarksville and Montgomery County mayors are encouraging Friday trick-or-treating, and Clarksville will have extra patrol officers out both Thursday and Friday nights.
  • Hopkinsville has rescheduled its Downtown Trick-or-Treat for Friday from 3:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. Hopkinsville city officials are encouraging neighborhoods and organizations to hold trick-or-treat activities Friday evening instead of Thursday.
  • Rutherford County Sheriff Robert Arnold asks citizens to postpone Halloween trick-or-treating until Friday. The annual Trunk or Treat Halloween event at the sheriff's office is set for Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 940 New Salem Highway in Murfreesboro.
  • Pleasant View strongly encouraging families to wait until Friday for trick-or-treating, and its Halloween on Main Street tradition with the PVVFD and local business is also moving their event to Friday.
  • Mt. Juliet is encouraging trick-or-treaters to wait until Friday.
  • Fort Campbell is moving trick-or-treating to Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Coopertown asks parents to consider postponing trick-or-treating until Friday.
  • Waverly is moving trick-or-treating to Friday evening.
  • Monterey is moving trick-or-treating to Friday.
  • Columbia's downtown Haunting in the District event will now take place Friday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Columbia Central High School is hosting trick-or-treating Friday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Hincheyville neighborhood in downtown Franklin to host trick-or-treating Friday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Lobelville, Linden and Perry County officials are asking that all Halloween activities be rescheduled to Friday.
  • Lebanon's Halloween on the Square and the 4th Annual Neddy Jacobs Coffin Race rescheduled to Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • CrossWay's Annual Trunk or Treat at the Priceless IGA on Church St in Murfreesboro has been postponed until Friday at 5:30 p.m.

Saturday events:

  • Livingston and Overton County moving Halloween festivities to Saturday, Nov. 2.
  • White House changes its official trick-or-treating hours to Saturday, Nov. 2, from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Clay County and the City of Celina are observing Halloween on Saturday night.

Communities not designating trick-or-treating days or hours but advising parents to use common sense and caution regarding the weather:

  • Franklin
  • Montgomery County
  • La Vergne
  • Dickson
  • Dickson County
  • Cheatham County
