STATESBORO, GA (WTOC) -
A man is dead after an officer-involved shooting Monday morning on Rackle Street near
Mikell Street in Statesboro.
Police told WTOC that George Pryor, 61, of Rackle Street, was shot by a
Statesboro police officer. Police said several police officers went to Pryor's
home as backup for a code enforcement officer. They did not say what they were
doing there. Shots were later fired.
Officer Justin Samples said, "Officers went with the code enforcement officer
to the scene to handle an issue. They arrived at 9 a.m. and shots were fired at
Samples said neither the code officer nor the police officer were wounded,
but did not confirm whether Pryor fired at them.
Several family members and neighbors declined to comment on camera, but one
lady said Pryor did not seem like the kind of person to start trouble.
