A Robertson County sheriff's deputy is off the job and facing assault charges.

Cpl. Roger Gott was arrested last week in Goodlettsville, accused of assaulting his ex-wife, their 7-year-old son and a 9-year-old daughter of his ex-wife's friend.

Gott was placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.

Kristy Gott, the man's ex-wife, says the alleged incident took place during a custody swap.

"Everything seemed to be cool. I got out, doing my normal thing," she said. "'Do you need their car seats?' Giving them their backpacks and love."

Kristy Gott said things began to unravel when her daughter began crying and indicated she didn't want to go.

"I open the back door of the Blazer, and he starts slamming me in it. I fought, all I could fight, this man. I got it open and had my hands around Hannah. Well, he starts grabbing me by the skin on my back and jerking me," Kristy Gott said.

In a matter of minutes, the woman said chaos erupted as her ex-husband allegedly tried to drag them out of her truck.

"I'm screaming and crying, 'Put my son down!' My best friend's screaming and crying, 'Put that baby down!' He's cursing, saying, 'You shut up, he's not your kid.' Then he held him up by his arm and dropped him," Kristy Gott said.

Goodlettsville police wouldn't comment on the criminal investigation, but the sheriff's deputy has been decommissioned by the Robertson County Sheriff's Office.

"Right now, I'm sick. I'm so nervous about this. My kids are scared. They love him, but they're scared," Kristy Gott said.
