A young man who came to Nashville to make music is instead the star in an upcoming Hollywood movie.

Like so many, Blake Rayne moved to Music City with a guitar in his hand and dreams of life on a stage, but he never thought the stage would be a movie stage.

"I never thought I'd be in a movie, let alone the lead actor in a movie, so it's just a blessing," Rayne said.

He appears in The Identical, alongside Ray Liotta and Ashley Judd, playing the lead in his first-ever role. He never even acted in a school play.

But Rayne was discovered by a Los Angeles producer visiting a friend in a Nashville studio, and the rest, as Rayne says was "dumb luck."

"Getting a scene with Ray Liotta, you realize it's the real deal, you know," Rayne said.

The movie was filmed largely in Middle Tennessee, including scenes in Lebanon and the Sylvan Park neighborhood of west Nashville, and is full of music and emotion.

"It's weird. I've watched it a couple times, and I've shed a tear. It's a great ride," Rayne said.

Rayne and his band are set to perform a free show Wednesday at the Fortress in Marathon Village. They'll be singing the songs you'll hear in the movie The Identical, which is set to hit theaters in spring 2014.
