Murfreesboro kitchen fire displaces 5 residents

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A kitchen fire in Murfreesboro displaced several residents from their homes Friday night.

Fire and rescue crews responded to the fire at 1106 Main Street just after 8 PM and saw heavy smoke coming from the house.

Firefighters discovered flames in the stove area, and quickly put out the blaze.

The fire damage was contained to the kitchen of the home, which is split into three separate apartments.

Five residents had to go elsewhere for the night. The Red Cross assisted those who did not have a place to go.

At this time, the cause of the fire is unknown. More information will be released as it becomes available.
