Suspicious fire damages home in west Nashville

Posted: Updated:

Crews in west Nashville worked to put out a suspicious fire Friday morning.

The fire marshal is on his way to the scene on Sterling Street near Mackie Street.

The home caught fire around 1:30 a.m.

The house was empty because it's being renovated. Fire officials say they were able to contact the homeowners, who are on their way to Nashville from Dickson.

While two of the back rooms have been badly damaged, the home isn't a total loss.

Investigators have not released the cause of the fire at this time.
