Chattanooga City Council approves funds for public safety initiatives

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

Two major resolutions involving the Chattanooga Police Department were presented and passed at Tuesday night's City Council meeting. 

Mayor Andy Berke wants to spend $100,000 on a structure study of the Chattanooga Police Department, to help establish ways of better running it.

He also wants to hire the John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York to develop a violent crime reduction strategy for Chattanooga.

The more than $240,000 investment would be modeled after the High Point Initiative,
