Two people wounded in shooting on Claiborne Street
NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -
Metro police are investigating after two people were shot, including one who was critically injured, Tuesday afternoon in south Nashville.
The shooting was reported about noon outside a home on Claiborne Street.
Investigators say two men on bicycles fired at the front porch of the home then fled the scene, possibly to the nearby Napier Homes area.
Police previously said three people were shot, but a third person hurt at the scene was actually injured when trying to climb a fence to escape the gunfire.
The victims include Timothy Shields, Rico Lyons and Andrienna Woods.
The violence is believed to be connected to an ongoing feud involving at least one of the victims, police said. Police said Shields has been seeing two women at the same time, and the guys on the bicycles may be related to one of the women.
Police told us a feud has been festering, and investigators were not getting much help from witnesses.
"There are persons who were outside when this gunfire occurred, and we understand the reticence to walk up to a police officer in the midst of all this and start talking. But there are ways to communicate with the police department after we have left," said police spokesman Don Aaron.
Calling Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME could be the easiest way.
One the three injured, Lyons, remains in critical condition at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
The other two remain in better condition at this hour.
Police did not want to release suspect descriptions, believing instead they have a good idea who they hope to arrest.
