Local wounded warrior establishes campaign for other injured vets

Posted: Updated:

A local wounded warrior and his family have started a campaign to help support other injured service men and women.

Specialist Andrew Smith established the "Honoring the Sacrifice" campaign, which collects gift cards and money for recovering service members at Walter Reed Medical Center in Maryland.

Donations can be made at Walgreens stores across the Greater Chattanooga area.

Smith lost both legs in Afghanistan in 2012 when he stepped on an IED and says he wants to help other wounded warriors feel the love, support, and assistance he received.

For more information, including a list of participating stores, visit the Honoring the Sacrifice website here.
