Channel 4's Healthy 4 Life Expo hits the brand new Music City Center is open Sunday until 5 p.m., and thousands of people are expected at the fun, informative and free event.

The goal is to help you and your family live a healthy life, and there will be activities for folks of all ages, including free health screenings, exercise classes and even cooking demonstrations.

"There's a Healthy Aging Zone, a Kid Zone, there will be a rock wall. The Preds are bringing in a skating rink," said WSMV General Manager Doreen Wade.

Here at Channel 4, we believe in healthy living, and we're sharing that commitment with you while tackling a real issue in our community.

"Given the statistics in Middle Tennessee regarding obesity, heart disease and high blood pressure, we decided to be the station in the community to help Middle Tennesseans get healthier and more fit," Wade said.

Meet Dr. Oz and Today anchor Willie Geist

Plus, some big names are coming to town to help us help you.

You'll get a chance to meet TV host Dr. Mehmet Oz, Today show co-anchor Willie Geist and Subway spokesman Jared Fogle.

We've also invited some of the Midstate's best chefs to demonstrate easy and healthy meal options at the Kroger Healthy 4 Life Cooking Stage.

And we're offering free health screenings, so you can check your blood pressure or talk with professionals about questions you may have.

Audition for NBC's 'The Voice'

Be sure to get your photo taken sitting in one of the judges' chairs from NBC's hit TV show The Voice.

And you can even get a chance to audition for The Voice at the Healthy 4 Life Expo.

Active Aging Zone

In the Active Aging Zone, presented by Cigna-HealthSpring, doctors will be on hand to address conditions like heart attack and stroke. They'll also be there for you - at no cost - to answer any health questions you may have.

"Our doctors are not trying to take the place of your doctor. They are there and will do short seminar and then can sit down and ask questions, which is really important for our senior population," said Desi Smith, with Cigna-HealthSpring.

Hands-on simulators

There will be some unique hands-on simulators, including one that shows what can happen if you don't buckle up.

The Governor's Highway Safety Office and AT&T are teaming up to drive home an important message.

"Traffic safety is part of healthy living and making healthy choices behind the wheel is part of being a healthy individual," said Megan Buell, with the Governor's Highway Safety Office.

Another must-see is a driving simulator that shows how dangerous texting behind the wheel can be. You can hop in and see how quickly you get distracted while driving and texting at the same time.

Kids Zone

Your kids are going to love what we have in store at the Kids Zone, including a rock wall and fun activities like measuring the speed of their soccer ball.

They can see the DaVinci surgical robot from St. Thomas Hospital, which is what surgeons use to treat patients. Kids can come try their hand at moving objects with the robot to see how it all works.

And they'll get a unique opportunity to try their skills as a TV reporter or weathercaster.

"We're going to have a mini TV studio, where children can come and pretend to be a TV reporter and get filmed and be on TV," said Dr. Deanna Bell, with TriStar Centennial Women's and Children's Hospital.

And new parents: do you have questions about properly putting your child in a car seat? If so, we've got you covered with another life-saving demonstration that will go on all weekend.

There's so much to see and do at the Healthy 4 Life Expo, and a lot of it is hands-on.

The best part is it's all free!

The Healthy 4 Life Expo runs Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 19 and 20, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. For a complete list of free activities and special guests, visit:
