Belle Meade police are investigating after a woman was pistol-whipped in a violent home invasion Monday in the quiet residential community.
The robbery was reported before 2 p.m. at a home near the intersection of Lynnwood Lane and Lynnwood Boulevard.
Investigators say three men wearing masks entered the home through an unlocked garage door and demanded a female resident to get on the floor at gunpoint as they robbed the home. During the robbery, she was struck by a weapon but did not require hospitalization.
She was unable to get a clear look at the men, but police continue their investigation and say the suspects fled on foot.
"Always lock your doors. This is a very safe neighborhood, and even the surrounding areas are nice. But you're locking your doors more for the people passing through than your neighbors," said Belle Meade Police Chief Tim Eads.
The men managed to get away with the woman's cell phone and wallet.
If you saw anything suspicious in the area or know anything that could help detectives, call Belle Meade police.
