Phoenix police have identified a motorcyclist killed in a collision Saturday afternoon.
Eric B. Brown, 40, was going west on Bell Road about 2 p.m. as a woman driving a GMC Yukon was turning from private drive to go north on 23rd Street in front of him, said Phoenix police Officer James Holmes.
Brown apparently saw the GMC and laid his motorcycle down to avoid a collision, but was run over by the Yukon, Holmes said.
He was taken to a Phoenix hospital, where he later died, Holmes said.
The collision forced the closure of Bell Road at 23rd Street for several hours, Holmes said.
The driver of the Yukon was given civil citations related to the collision, Holmes said, who added there were no indications of impairment.
