Blazers' win streak ends at West Alabama

LIVINGSTON, AL (WALB) -

The Valdosta State Blazers' 14-game win streak is over, thanks to 14th ranked West Alabama.

The Tigers outscored VSU 49-30 in a Thursday night conference battle.

Seemingly each time, UWA scored, the Blazers would answer right back to cut the lead to five.

But deep in their own territory at the end of the third quarter, the Blazers attempted a fake punt that was quickly snuffed out.

The Tigers cashed in almost immediately, when Kyle Campbell found Chad Toocheck in the back of the endzone to push the lead to 42-23.

Each team traded one more touchdown before the end of the game.

The Blazers are now 4-1, 0-1 in Gulf South play.

David Dean's squad now has two extra preparation days for West Georgia.

The Blazers travel to Carrollton to take on the Wolves next Saturday.
