ERIN, TN (WSMV) -

Search efforts are intensifying in Houston County for a man who went missing Monday morning and hasn't been seen since.

"We have canvassed the area with search-and-rescue dogs for two days," said Houston County Sheriff Darrell Allison.

About 30 volunteers fanned out across the area near 65-year-old Leamon Luffman's home Wednesday.

Nothing was found, but they will continue to look for the man who friends describe as kind and gentle.

Sheriff's officials say Luffman's wife last saw him at their Bateman Branch Road Sunday night. On Monday morning, the coffee pot was left on and a rose was on the counter. But Luffman was nowhere to be found.

"The vehicle he normally drove was still at the residence. No one has seen or heard from him. He's not made any calls from his cell phone," Allison said. "Still a mystery to us as to why he went missing, but we're going to do everything we can to find him. And we think he's still in this area right now."

The next planned search is set for Saturday morning. Volunteers are encouraged to meet at 8 a.m. near the intersection of Bateman Branch Road and Cedar Valley Road in Houston County.

"We're going to find Mr. Luffman, for his family. They need to know where he's at and what's going on with him," Allison said.

Police say they do not believe Luffman has any medical conditions.

Foul play is not suspected at this time.

If you have seen Luffman, call sheriff's officials at (931) 721-4019.
