The Signal Mountain Fire Department and Walden's Ridge Emergency Services responded to Signal Point Trail Saturday morning for reports of a high fall.
A 21-year-old male went hiking with friends on Signal Point Trail and fell 30 feet down the rocky bluff. Signal Mountain Fire Department tells Channel 3 the 21-year-old sustained a head injury.
"The victim fell 30 feet down and landed on the trail below," said Chief Eric Mitchell, Signal Mountain Fire Department.
He was transported by Hamilton County EMS to Erlanger Medical Center.
Mitchell also wants to notify residents that Signal Point Trail is a National Park and is closed due to the government shut-down.
"There are signs posted at the trail entrance that the park was closed" said Mitchell.
The Signal Mountain Fire Department tells Channel 3 that it's important for everyone to respect the governmental situation of the parks temporarily closure.
