Warning issued about Affordable Care Act scam

Posted: Updated:
NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Obamacare has been around for just three days, and scam artists are already trying to get your money.

The Federal Trade Commission says the scam works like this: People are getting calls saying they are eligible for a "free Affordable Care Act card," and the caller will ask you to send personal information to get the card.

There is no such thing as an Affordable Care Act card. Scammers are trying to confuse you to get your cash, taking advantage of people who aren't sure how the Affordable Care Act works.

No one is going to contact you about Obamacare. It is something for which you sign up.

The best thing to do in this situation is to hang up immediately.
