Titans QB Locker gives update on progress after hip injury

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

For the first time since hurting his hip in last week's game, Tennessee Titans quarterback Jake Locker is talking about his injury and what he thought right after it happened.

Despite what some thought after he got tackled, Locker said he didn't think it was a cheap shot.

But he admitted that it scared him when it first happened because of the pain and where the injury was located: in his hip and right knee.

But, he said he felt better the next day and is now working hard to get back on the field.

"The next morning it was sore but wasn't really painful, so I was hoping for the best at that point and hoping it wasn't anything crazy where I wouldn't have the opportunity to play sometime soon," Locker said.

Locker met with reporters at Titans practice Wednesday and was wearing a stocking on his leg as part of his rehabilitation program already underway.

He said he'll stay involved with the offense and be involved in the game planning and support Ryan Fitzpatrick, who takes over the starting job for now.

"I'm doing whatever I can to help these guys win games, whatever that may mean," Locker said. "I'm very proud to be a part of this team and proud to be a part of this city and am just thankful for the people that reached out and showed their support."
