Missouri congresswoman asks for her pay to be withheld

ST. LOUIS - (KSDK) U.S. Representative Ann Wagner of Missouri has asked that her pay be withheld during the government shutdown. Wagner represents Missouri's second congressional district.

In the letter below, Wagner's congressional salary will be withheld. According to her press aide, is not just a request.  Her salary will be withheld as per her instructions.

Here's the text of the letter:

Mr. Dan Strodel
Chief Administrative Officer
HB-28, The Capitol
Washington D.C., 20515

Dear Mr. Strodel:

I have been informed that in the event of a government shutdown, Members of Congress would continue to receive their salary.

In the event of an appropriation lapse and a subsequent government shutdown, please withhold my pay.
