Warm and dry this week - WSMV News 4

Warm and dry this week

Posted: Updated:

Good Tuesday.  With an average rainfall of 3.26", October is the driest month of the year in Chattanooga.  We will live up to that this week with no rainfall until Sunday.

October is also the month in which we see a significant cooldown.  The average high on October 1st is 78 degrees.  The average high on the 31st is 68 degrees.

For the first week of October, we will be warm and dry with highs in the low to mid 80s.

High pressure will be on top of us through the week, providing light wind from the southwest, allowing for the warmer weather.

For the weekend, I am moving the rain chances back a day.  The latest models show a front slowly moving into west Tennessee on Saturday.  Right now, it looks as if the front will not bring us any rain until the overnight hours of Saturday night / Sunday morning.  The high Saturday will be in the low 80s.

For Sunday, we can expect showers and storms through the morning and into the afternoon.  They will taper off during the night as cooler and drier air moves in.  The high Sunday will be in the mid 70s.  Monday will see clearing skies with a high of 73.
