Crime Stoppers: Police seek sexual assault suspect with wounds

Posted: Updated:

This week's Crime Stoppers report comes from Bradley County.

That's where an intruder entered a woman's home in the middle of the night and sexually assaulted her.

Police say the victim fought back, leaving visible marks on the suspect.

If you've noticed someone with those marks, a solid lead in the case could result in a cash reward.

"You don't hear too many of these," said Chattanooga Police Sergeant Daniel Jones.

It's a crime local authorities don't investigate often.

On Saturday, September 13th it happened at a home on Wilkinson Road.

The victim awoke to the sound of someone breaking into her house late at night.

"This guy knew exactly what he wanted to do and what he wanted to try to do," said Jones, who says nothing was taken from the home and the sexual assault is believed to be the only motive for breaking into the house.

The victim fought back, but her attacker was too strong.

"She was biting and she was fighting," said Jones, "she was scratching and she was doing everything she could do to get this guy away."

The man then fled the scene, taking with him visible marks left by the victim.

They are injuries police hope someone noticed in the days after the crime.

"If they've seen any of that stuff they need to go ahead and call us and let us know," pleaded Jones, "that way Crime Stoppers in Bradley County can go out and catch this guy."

Investigators fear the power-hungry criminal may strike again.

They're hoping someone will come forward to give the victim and nearby residents the peace of mind only an arrest can.

"Someone wanting that power, they are just going to continue doing it, and they're going to find another victim," warned Jones.

The suspect is described as a white male. He's between 6 foot and 6 foot 4 inches tall, with a slender build and broad shoulders.

He had his face covered during the crime, but again likely left the scene with scratches and bite marks.

Can you help solve this crime?

If so, call Crime Stoppers at 698-3333.

An officer may answer the phone, but he'll never ask your identity.
