1st day of the150th Battle of Chickamauga reenactment

Posted: Updated:

It was a rocky start for spectators looking forward to watching the 150th Anniversary Battle of Chickamauga reenactment.

The one-way road to enter the Mountain Cove property had a 45 minute wait.

As a result of the wet weather and backed up lines, the event organizer canceled the first event at 10 Saturday morning.

Walker County EMS responders also felt it would be too difficult to reach anyone during an emergency.

Several vehicles were stuck in the mud and the reenactors had a hard time pulling cannons and wagons to their final spot.

The last show of the evening had over 5,000 reenactors and thousands of spectators watching.
